Show Fiye Motor Car Accidents Reported By Sheriff's Office Five motor car accidents were investigated by the Sheriff's office of-fice during the past week. No serious injuries are reported, but one car was completely demolished. demolish-ed. Two were connected with local people the other three were tourists. Mayor Frank Staheli, Howard Jolley and Elden Mock of Washington Wash-ington met with the first accident when they were returning from a business trip to Salt Lake. The accident occured Friday morning at approximately 6:30 a.m. near Anderson's Ranch. It is reported to have happened when Eldon Mock, who was driving, driv-ing, went to sleep at the wheel. Mr. Staheli and Mr. Jolley received receiv-ed injuries and were treated at the McGregor hospital where they V6i-'? 'taken by tourists. No serious injuries are reported. It is estimated esti-mated that the loss through smashing the truck and produce will run approximately $250. Accident at Pine Valley A car driven by a Mr. Bracken of Salt Lake and Gerald Blake of St. George side swiped each other at Pine Valley on the 24th. This was the only accident reported on that day. Preston Blair of Long Beach, California completely demolished his car when he failed to make the curve at "Suicide corner" on the Harrisburg bench. This accident ac-cident occured at the same time as' the one envolving Mayor Staheli, at 6:30 Friday morning. With Blair at the time was Elvis Meadows from Long Beach. Only slight injuries were reported by Sheriff Prince, although he states that the car was completely demolished. de-molished. The car rolled over four complete times before coming to a stop 247 feet from the point it left the highway. As Sheriff Prince put it, "about the only thing left on the car was its wheels". Drunken Driving Charged L. B. Stratton was charged with drunken driving after an investigation investi-gation by the Sheriff's office of an accident in which his car topped over and rolled 240 feet. The accident ac-cident happened on the 24th the other side of Leeds. Stratton was only slightly injured and following his release at the hospital he was taken before the justice of the peace and fined. His car was not wrecked much since it rolled over in the sand, said the Sheriff. |
