Show 41 Tourist Travel Breaks AH Records For the third year in a row a new high level of motor touring activity is indicated for 1937, n ports the touring bureau of' the Utah Motorists association. Motor tourist travel in 1935 set an all-time record which stood only until 1936 travel reports were compiled. The trend is still upward up-ward and all signs point to another an-other record-breaking year. The association declares that a noticeable trend is toward a wider range of touring and longer duration dura-tion of trips than for the past several years. Of interest to Southern Utah is the fact that motorists requesting maps and other guidance in planning trips are showing a heavy preference for western recreational areas. Other sections are experiencing similar expansion of travel activi-. activi-. ties, as indicated by reports from affiliated A. A. A. motor clubs, with requests for maps and routings running from ten to twenty-five per cent above the 1936 level. Park officials say that their records re-cords point to another of the yearly increases that they have been able to report. Zion National Park has enjoyed a steady increase in visitors for years and like the general touring records, has checked a big increase in the number num-ber entering the park in the last few years. From a first check of around 10,000 to an estimated 150.000 for this year, gives some indication of the popularity enjoyed en-joyed by this park. |
