Show NEWS OF THE COUNTY SEAT Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Gluvas and Mrs. Irene Hoff of Taft, California Califor-nia came in last Wednesday for a visit with relatives and friends. Mr. Gluyas and Mrs. Hoff intend returning to Taft on Friday but Mrs. Gluyas will spend some time here with her mother, Mrs. Alice Bleak and other relatives. Charles Stevens returned Monday Mon-day form Salt Lake City where he has had employment for some time. Mrs. Lizzie Lamb has returned from Los Angeles where she spent some time visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hawkins and son. Mrs. Hawkins will be remembered by her many friends here, as Miss Ester Andrus. Claud Morris who is employed at Gold Strike was visiting wtih relatives here over the week-end. David H. Morris, prominent citizen of Sounthern Utah, who has been confined to his home for some time with illness is reported to be slowly improving. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Mathis and son were week end visitors in Salt Lake City. Word has been received here of the birth of a son to Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Hiatt of Sandpoint, Idaho. Mrs. Hiatt will be remembered by friends here as Miss Ruth Sullivan. Mrs. B. Jarvis, Jr. returned Monday night from Salt Lake City where she spent the past few weeks visiting Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Parsons and family. Fergus Wallis underwent an operation at the local hospital last Friday. Mrs. Mack Bowman has returned return-ed from a months visit with relatives rela-tives and friends in Arizona. Miss Ada Hafen has gone to Los Angeles to spend several weeks visiting. Miss Merlene Fawcett left last Friday to visit for several days with relatives and friends in Provo. Dick Stout, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Stout of Hurricane Hurri-cane is receiving medical treatment treat-ment at the local hospital. Word has been received here of the engagement of Miss Utahna Petty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Petty of Salt Lake City to LeGrande L. Belnap of that place. The marriage will take place July 19. Mrs. Sarah Wallace and son, Leon will go to Salt Lake City the latter part of this week where Leon will undergo an operation on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Antone Nisson, Willard Nisson and son, Roy and Leslie Ashby left Wednesday for Salt Lake City to spend several days visiting relatives and friends. The following have been discharged dis-charged from the local hospital during the past week: Mrs. Kenneth Milne and daughter, Mrs. Roy West and daughter, Mrs. LaVon Jones and son, and Ila Clair Stucki, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Stucki of Santa Clara who had been receiving treatment for a broken arm. Marian Adams of Langdale, Nevada is spending some time here visiting with her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Syphus and other relatives. Mrs. Marie Booth and Mrs. Beatrice Lamoreaux entertained the K.Y.B. Club at the home of the former last Thursday afternoon. after-noon. Rook was played and prizes were awarded to Mrs. Mary Bowler Bow-ler and Mrs. Leona Pearce. Lee Empey has returned from Salt Lake City where he spent a few days with his wife who is in a hospital there. The results of the operation and treatment she is having performed on her eyes will not be known for some time. Miss Alice Milne left Monday morning for her home in Salt Lake City after spending several weeks visiting with her mother, Mrs. A. Y. Milne here. Mr. and Mrs. LaVoy Glevhill of Sigurd were visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Jennings and others here the latter part of last week while enjoying a tour of the parks. Miss Alice Thompson underwent an operation at the local hospital on Tuesday. Mrs. S. A. King and son, Dick of Washington D. C. are guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Watson. They came in Sunday from Los Angeles. Billy Whitehead has gone to Parowan to spend several weeks visiting Mr. and Mrs. Will L. Adams and family. Mrs. Norma Wright, Miss Alma Morris and Miss Fawn Schmutz entertained at a bridal shower honoring Miss Phyllis Bentley at the home of the latter on Tuesday evening. Miss Cecil Schmutz of New Harmony came in Monday to attend the shower and the wedding. wed-ding. O. C. Bowman, division Manager of the Southern Utah Power Company Com-pany was a business visitor here the latter part of last week from Cedar City. Miss Toni Watson entertained the B.T.B. Club at her home last Wednesday night. Miss Betty Seeg-miller Seeg-miller entertained the Club at her home last night. Mr. and Mrs. Athe Meeks returned re-turned Monday from Salt Lake City where they enjoyed a visit with Athe's brother Heber who has recently been appointed Secretary Secre-tary of the Securities Commission. Miss Jean Clements of Park City is visiting with relatives and friends here. She is a guest of Miss Evelyn Snow. Karl Milne of Washington underwent an operation at the local hospital on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Bentley of Pioche, Nevada and Mrs. Bell Holt and Miss Mary Engle of Enterprise were visiting over Sunday Sun-day with relatives here. Shirl Alger of Los Angeles is here to attend the summer with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas S. Terry. Miss Fern Shipley, assistant State Club Specialist is working in the country this week with 4-H Club leaders and others. Miss Rhoda Cannon entertained last Thursday morning with a breakfast in honor of Miss Virgina Alsop who is visiting here from the East. A chicken and corn supper sup-per was held at Zion Canyon last evening in her honor. About thirty-five thirty-five young people were present. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Miles and family left Sunday morning for a vacation in the northern part of the state. Mr. and Mrs. Morris Brooks accompanied them north to their home in Provo after having spent the past week visiting relatives rela-tives here. Mr. and Mrs. J. Clinton Snow and family are vacationing in Cedar City. Mrs. C. W. Love and sons Ralph and Ray have returned from the north where they have been visiting. visit-ing. Ray has been attending the B. Y.
