Webb, a former St. George boy who has been state crop inspector in this state for some years, from which the following follow-ing is extracted: "You may be surprised and you may not to know that I am leaving the services of the state of Utah on Sept. 30th and begin serving Oct. 1st for the U. S. Department of Agriculture. Agricul-ture. An opportunity was offered me last July to take the civil service examination for a position in the U. S. Bureau of Agricultural Economics, Hay Feed and Seed Division. I accepted ac-cepted the opportunity and was surprised sur-prised to learn on Aug. 30, through a telegram from the Washington office of-fice asking if I would accept a position posi-tion with them at a much higher salary than I am now getting also a promise of a raise in six months. This was too good to reject so I accepted ac-cepted having passed the civil service serv-ice examination. "I am leaving on the 30th of Sept. for Kansas City then will spent about a month in Washington, D. C, after which time I will return to Salt Lake where my head quarters will be. I will have charge of the work of hay and bean inspection in the inter-mountain inter-mountain states including Utah, Idaho, Ida-ho, Montana, Colorado and Wyoming." |
