Show NEWS OF LOCxYL OIL FIELD IIIATT WELL DOWN TWO HUNDRED FEET O. L. Hiatt, manager of the Beehive Dome well, reports that they are now down 200 feet and are watching very closely as they expect to strike the oil sand any time. The drill is now in a very hard formation. C. W. Simpson of Ogaen and A. P. Mitchell, oil men, visited the Beehive Dome well this week and spent some time in that vicinity studying the formation for-mation of the district. They were favorably impressed with the headway being made, and say the outlook for bringing in a well is very promising. It is understood that the Mid American Amer-ican has had a complete water shut off and are going down without further fur-ther trouble. Geologist Davies of California accompanied ac-companied by a man who is an oil expert ex-pert were here the fore part of the week looking over the field, and especially espec-ially the Virgin Dome properties. Geologist Johnson of California has been here several days giving the country the once over. W. J. Graham reports that he is getting get-ting inquiries in regard to patented land for lease. Owners of land and leases are reluctant about signing up any land at this time as the values of all oil land in other states is leased on acre recovery and the wells now drilling drill-ing will have a great effect on oil land values. The recovery per acre in barrels at Long Beach, Cal., has been 191,257; Kern River, Calif., 40,772; Springdale top, Texas, 241,362 barrels; Santa Fe Springs, Calif., 126,329 barrels; so if our prospective oil land holds up to the western record our land values should not be appraised at this time. A. Samson, one of the pioneers of the St. George oil field, is on a business busi-ness trip to Los Angeles. Mr. Samson also expects to interest capital capi-tal to drill on some of his leases here. |
