Show DIXIE HIGH 56; HURRICANE 28 Dixie high can play basketball, and they seem to play the best when they are. crowded. This was demonstrated in the game at Hurricane last Friday night when they won from the fast team of that place by a score of 56 to 28. This team furnished the first real competition Dixie has had this season. The game started with a rush, the teams alternating in possession of the ball. Kenneth Cox made the first basket bas-ket after a minute and a half of play. From then on Dixie scored regularly, and at the end of the half had 35 points to Hurricane's 15. The game was very fast, both teams using a short passing attack, with both sides cleverly working the ball under the basket for short shots. The superiority super-iority of Dixie's offense and defense was clearly noticable and their attack at times bewildered the Hurricane players. Pectol and K. Cox turned in the best guarding game witnessed in a long time. They broke up nearly every Hurricane play when it got into Dixie territory and compelled Hurricane to shoot from difficult angles. L. Cox and Romney did the basket shooting for Dixie and between them counted 41 points. A number of long shots were tried by both teams but few were made. It would be difficult to pick a star from the Dixie team, each man played high class basketball and each contributed contri-buted his share toward the final victory. vic-tory. For Hurricane R. Thompson, Imlay and Wilson possibly outplayed their team mates. It was a very exciting game in spite of the two to one score, and fans can be assured of another high class exhibition ex-hibition when these teams meet on the local floor.
