Show U, P. WOULD ENTER LOCAL STAGE FIELD (Deseret News) Settlement of disputes over transportation trans-portation facilities for the cities and towns on the Zion Park route was further complicated Tuesday when the Utah Parks company filed application for permission to operate a stage line between Cedar City and St. George. Applications are now pending before the commission by the Great Western Motorways, a Utah corporation and the Pickwick stages of Nevada for permission per-mission to operate in intrastate corry-merce corry-merce in carrying passengers between Salt Lake and St. George. Hearings have already been held by the commission commis-sion at Beaver and St. George on the application of the Great Western corporation cor-poration and since these hearings the Pickwick application has been filed. Chester A. Whitehead, owner of the present certificate between St. George and Cedar City applied to the commission commis-sion for permission to transfer his line to the Southern Utah Transportation company. The Union Pacific through its subsidiary sub-sidiary the Utah Parks company is opposing op-posing granting any certificate to operate oper-ate between Salt Lake and St. George to either the Utah or Nevada corporations corpora-tions who are now operating between Salt Lak"e and Los Angeles in interstate inter-state busses but seeks for its own the rights now held by Whitehead. Hearing was held at Cedar City Tuesday on the application of Mr. Whitehead to transfer his holdings to a corporation. The hearings on the applications to operate between Salt Lake and St. George by stage will be completed in Salt Lake Tuesday Feb. 14. In its application filed Tuesday the Utah Parks company declares it is ready to put into the Cedar-St. George service the facilities now employed in operating from Cedar City, Lund and Marysvale into .the scenic parks. If granted the certificate it proposes to operate two round trips daily charging a fare of $4 each way between Cedar City and St. George. |
