Show COUNCIL DISCUSSES STREET WORK The city council met Saturday afternoon after-noon at 1 o'clock, and among other business disussed was the petition to declare a curb and gutter district on First North street between Main street and First East street. After some discussion dis-cussion the matter was referred back to committee with instructions to learn the wishes of the property owners on this street as to whether or not graveling gravel-ing the street should also be included in the project. City Engineer Leo A. Snow reported to the council on the matter of the cost of graveling several business streets of the town. He estimated the cost would be $1.21 per linear foot. The council approved the purchase of 9 acres south of town, from J. T. Atkin, to be used by the city as a gravel pit. Mr. Atkin was present at the meeting and urged that the city beautify the city park by planting trees and to use any means within their power to beautify the park. The' city officers were instructed to enforce the ordinance prohibiting the riding of bicycles, tricycles, etc., on the sidewalks one block north and a block east of the tabernacle corner. |
