Show TWO MURDERS STIR LAS VEGAS Search For Suspected Slayers Extended to Nearby States; Both Cold-Blooded Killings Officers of Las Vegas and adjoining ad-joining states have joined in the search for the suspected slayers of two old men in that town within the past week. According to information infor-mation received by the sheriff's office of-fice here, both crimes were commit-mitted commit-mitted in cold blood, the slayers succeeding in their getaway and are still at large. Last Wednesday night a negro, Clarence Hodge, shot and killed his step-father, Sam Nettles, after a hot argument. Both men had been drinking, according to the testimony brought out at the Coroner's inquest. Hodge left immediately after the shooting, heading toward Salt Lake by auto. Officers followed him as far as St. George but here lost all trace of the man, and returned to Las Vegas. A telegram received by the sheriff's sher-iff's office here Monday advised local officers to be on the lookout for a man who cn Sunday night shot and killed an old man in a drunken row. According to the message the fugitive, whose name was not giren. abandoned his car and had taken to the hills on foot. He is described as an "Oklahoma bad mar.," a gun toter. 5 feet 3 inches in height, age about 20. weight 130 pounds, dark complexion ar.d touch looking. |
