Show PROTEST REMOVAL OF BRIGHAM YOUNG STATUE Protests against removal of the Brigham Young monument from its present site in Salt Lake City have been filed by Daughters of the Pioneers Pio-neers of Millard, Tooele, Iron and Washintgon counties. The organization takes the stand that the monument is an index to the most marvelous pioneer history ever achieved and that the present location is ideal for calling attention of toirlsts and strangers to the master pioneer, planner of a city and founder of a state. The question of whether the state will have any part in deciding if the statue is removed is now before George P. Parker, attorney general. Some of the Daughters of the Pioneers Pi-oneers maintain that the plot and the memorial itself were presented to the state and accepted by former Governor Heber M. Wells and they have requested an opinion of the attorney general on whether the city has a right to remove the statue. |
