Show STUDY BEET SEED POSSIBILITIES Monday a group of men representing repre-senting the bureau of plant indus-I indus-I try, Washington, D. C, visited St. George on sugar beet investigation. investiga-tion. The party included Dr. F. V. Owens, in charge of the excursion, excur-sion, Dr. F., A. Obegg, geneticist, Dr. li. M. Pultz, plant physiologist, Dr. F. G. Larmer, plant pathologist patholo-gist from the Salt Lake office of the department. Last year, under the direction of a former official, Dr. Dean A. Pack, sugar beet seed plots were started here in charge of B. Jarvis, Jr., and as a result of these . tests, ' the above party made the excursion excur-sion to investigate possibilities for sugar beet seed production in this section.. Those planting test plots were B. Jarvis, Jr., Chas. W. Seeg-miller, Seeg-miller, Sr., Clifford Wittwer and Bert Bradshaw, in St. George, and Herman Tegan of Washington.- After completing their investigations investi-gations here the party left for Zion Monday afternoon intending to visit the scenic wonders of this section on their return trip. |
