Show FRUIT DISCUSSED AT HURRICANE MEET Iw'art W. Rcylance, manager of carlot sales for the Pacific Fruit and Produce Company's Salt Lake effite, arrived in St. George Saturday Sat-urday evening, spent Sunday forenoon fore-noon visiting Santa Clara fruit orchards and Sunday afternoon in Hurricane. There, in connection with the board of the Dixie Co-opcrative Co-opcrative Produce association he met with the fruit growers of the east end of the county and assisted assist-ed in ironing out seme of the problems which had arisen. County Coun-ty Agent Walter F. Smith and Orval Hafen were in attendance at the meeting. Mr. Smith gave a few instructions as to the thinning thin-ning of fruit on the trees and the reasons for doing this at once. The best methods ci thinning were J discussed. There have teen no damaging frosts and the fruit crop is larger than ever before recorded in that part of the county. Cherries are maturing rapidly and will soon be ready for the market. The peach crop premise is trerr.endcms and with proper thinning, will unquestionably unques-tionably be the best quality produced pro-duced in that section. Claud Kirschi, vice president o! the board, conducted th3 meeting. Directors W. W. McArthur of St. George, Andrew Sproul of Washington Wash-ington and Morris Wilson, Jr., of LaVerkin also were in attendance and gave brief and interesting talks on the program of the Dixie Cooperative association. MY. Roy-lance Roy-lance returned to St. Ceorge Sunday Sun-day night and left for Salt Lake Monday. |
