Show WOOL3IEN URGE LEVY ON SHEEP An assessment of 1 cent a head on Utah sheep to secure funds for carrying out an educational campaign to increase the consumption consump-tion of lamb was recommended at a special meeting of the Utah Wool Growers association held in Salt Lake last Thursday. It was pointed out that the gross returns on the Utah lamb crop usually amounts to $14,090,000 per year, but, due to the present prices, the amount would fall off approximately 35 per cent. The matter cf levying an assessment assess-ment will ie placed in the hands of the executive committee of the state association for approval at once. The money will be turned over to the national livestock and meat board for the purpose of conducting conduct-ing demonstrations in the heavy consuming sections of the east, he said. Tlirough this means, several million additional dollars of revenue reve-nue is expected to be brought to Utah annually. |
