Show Oil STUDENTS ENTER STATE SCHOOL MEET Compete for Honors in Debating, Music, Dramatic Art anJ Athletics. Hundreds of. students from the nigh schools of the state assembled in Salt Lake City last week for tryouts in the various events scheduled. From Dixie College there were entries in practically all events Thursday and Friday. John T. Woodbury, Jr., took as the debating team June Moody, Antone Bowler, Evelyn Harris and Wien Egan, who won during the first day tryouts and composed one of the five teams which competed on the second day. They were defeated de-feated by the Lincoln high school, winner of the meet. Miss Evelyn Thurston took from the music department Miss Ruby Nelson, pianist, and a vocal trio composed of Mona Rebcr, Marie Cox and Mary MpCregor. Miss McGregor also entered the solo contest, tying for third place. Of the twelve who entered in the piano group Miss Nelson received special comment, and the trio received re-ceived third place. From the dramatic art department, depart-ment, directed by Miss Mary Lee, the entries were Miggie Brooks in the Sorab and Rustum contest and MJies Judd and Evelyn Harris in the cne-act play. They received much favorable comment but failed fail-ed to place in the finals. Athletic Meet Coach Leland Hafen and George Snow, athletic manager, accompanied accompan-ied the Dixie entries in the track and field meet. Those who qualified quali-fied at Delta to enter the state meeting were Don Bleak. James Andrus" Kcber Thompson. Ray Nelson, Nel-son, and June Moody. They entered the medley relay, the mile a:..i half mile races. While they did not succeed in placing.
