Show FOOT SEARCH FOR GRAHAM FAILS TO REVEAL TRACE Lee Cox and Win. Prince returned re-turned Friday night afteT a two day search of the south and east slopes of Pine Valley mountain for some trace of Maurice Graham, Western Air Express mail pilot, who, it is thought, was forced down by storm somewhere in this vicinity early on the morning of Saturday, January 11. The pair, went across country from the Black Ridge to New Harmony Har-mony and from there worked toward to-ward the top of the mountain. The trip was made on snowshoes, but at times even these did not prevent them from dropping into soft snow drifts to a depth of several feet. They report the snow ranging in depth from 18 inches on the level in the foothills to from fifteen to twenty feet in drifts in the ravines. The night was spent in a protected pro-tected nook near the top of the mountain, and on the second day they made their way back by a different route. No trace of ' the missing man was found. Cox and Prince report that the snow in places was so deep that it could easily have covered the plane and they could have passed directly over it without seeing it. Another intense air search for Graham is expected to center at St. George as soon as clues in other sections have been investigated. |
