Show GROCERY PRESIDENT SEES BOOM THROUGH NEWSPAPER AD USE CHICAGO, Nov. 12 A prediction predic-tion that grocers in 193 6 will do the biggest year's business in a decade if they utilize newspaper advertising consistently and intelligently in-telligently was made today to the thousands of members of the Independent Grocers' alliance by its president, J. F. Grimes. In a letter to members of the alliance, Mr. Grimes stressed the point that welfare of the independent indepen-dent merchant and his newspaper are irrevocably bound together. "Through the depression years, rather than reduce newspaper advertising space, we have steadily stead-ily augmented it," Mr. Grimes said. "The fellows who used the depression as an excuse to curtail their advertising have steadily made their plight worse and are now paying the penalty : for their shortsightedness." People today are swinging from low quality and price merchan- ' dise to better and still better varieties. var-ieties. They will continue to buy i quality if the merchant will steadily point the w-ay and tell the story in his newspaper, he i emphasized. Salt Lake Tribune. |
