Show CITY CONSERVATION PROGRAM IS BOON TO LOCAL WATER USERS By Goi-K I'ityn The recent water conservation program carried out by the city, under the direction of Drouth Relief, is bearing results. Had this work not been done it is. highly probable that the Cottonwood Cotton-wood water would have failed to reach the city in any amount sufficient even for culinary purposes. pur-poses. An expenditure of upwards of one thousand dollars was spent on the Cottonwood canal and in the main canyon leading from the spring. A crew of men camped at the canal and a program pro-gram of cleaning and putting clay into cracks and other leaks in the ditch was carried out. A great saving of water was accomplished ac-complished besides making itf more fit for people to use. The real value of this project is difficult to estimate. Most of the trees and vines have been kept alive in districts where this water wa-ter is used; and these are very valuable. It has taken a long time to grow trees and other vegetation which surrounds their homes and they aid in beautifying the city. The low water period is ap-proching ap-proching and all people are urged to cooperate in taking care of water that these trees and other such beautifyers may be saved. |
