Show LIVESTOCK MEET AT PINE VALLEY PROVES SUCCESS; 250 ATTEND Two hundred and fifty people were present at the three day Livestockmen's convention held at Pine Valley on Thursday, Friday Fri-day and Saturday, August 2, 3, and 4. Every problem that the Livestockmemn have to face was discussed by speakers, who were well versed in their subjects. Morris, St. George and Olif Ja-cobson, Ja-cobson, Pine Valley, president; Rex Frei, secretary; E. S. Gardner, Jos. A. Terry, Schmutz, Lee V. Leavitt. The convention program considered con-sidered three main problems namely, The Taylor Grazing Bill, which was handled by Dr. A. E. Farrow, Cedar City, Judge D. H. obson, Pine Valley. The big game problem was led by E. R. Frei, Sr., Santa Clara, E. S. Gardner, Pine Valley, N. i B. Cook Commissioner, State Fish and Game, James Baldwin, Forest For-est Ranger and Ben Swapp forest for-est Ranger. The third phase of the program pro-gram was; The Agricultural adjustment ad-justment act as affecting agriculture agri-culture by TC. F. Smith, County-Agent County-Agent and the future outlook of the cattle and sheep industries indus-tries by Prof. A. E. Esplin, U. S. A. C. sheep and wool specialist. Friday afternoon was devoted to livestock judging, mor than 100 persons participated in this judging contest. Prizes were given for best Judging and also for athletic and horsemanship stunts. This same program was carried into Saturday afternoon. The following named business houses contributed toward, the success of this program; P. G. The Southern Utah Association of Livestockmen elected officers as follows: John H. Schmutz, president; F. J. Bowler, vice-president; vice-president; Rex Frei, secretry; Members of the board as follows! E. S. Gardner, Jojs. A. Terry, Alonzo Christensen, George H Seegmiller, Ward Esplin, Mathew Gray, AI Thorley, RJey Savage, Henry Gubler, Antone Prince, Ed Lamb, Jr., P. M. Iverson, Donald Schmutz, Lee V. eavitt. The Stanley Schmutz orchestra orches-tra provided music for both the programes and dance. James F. Cottam and wife served meals for the visitors and at the close of the celebration they entertained enter-tained the crowd at the Veyo swimming pool. |
