Local Ball Teams To Play at Fair, Hurricane, 9, 10 The baseball game between St. George and Cedar, played at Cedar last Sunday, was stopped in the 1st half of the 2nd inning in-ning by rain. Neither team having scored. In the first inning St. George smarted out like they were going places. Hid Andprson, the first I man up hit a single, he stold I L'nd and then attempted to go I to 3rd on a hit by Grant Harris, j but was caught at 3rd. Harris was safe on 1st. Lynn Empey came up next and the Cedar pitcher walked him. Tart Price popped up and Grant Whitehead got a single to fill the base.-with base.-with two out. Porter the nex: man up was left standing at the plate when Cedar caught Harris off 3rd for the last out. Ed Lund, the St. Georga pitcher pit-cher made the first two pop up and fanned the third to retire the side. In the 2nd, Porter and Vance made outs and Milne was up to bat when the rain stepped the game. Peach Day Gaines Thursday the first team will go to Hurricane to play in the Peach Day tournament. It they win their game today, they will be in on the play-off tomorrow. Last year they didn't even make it interesting for Hurricane. We will hope they at least make a game out of it today. Tomorrow, Tomor-row, Friday, a team composed of Juniors and isecond team players will play with Hurricane Junior Jun-ior team. This Hurricane team 1 has established themselves as be-! be-! ing real ball players and are ! favored to take the game. I Beaver Here Sunday Beaver, the team that is lead-i lead-i ing the seoond half, will be here this Sunday. This team is in the lead because of their victory over 6t. George. According to the write-up in the Beaver paper about this game, Beaver's victory vic-tory was credited to the "Superb pitching," Of Larson. According to the Press, he had the game 1 in his pocket all the way only I letting up in the 9th to make it I more interesting. They intimat-I intimat-I ed that it was mere child play ! tor Larson to beat St. Gedrge, The sensational play of the game, according to Beaver, was when Pearce stold home. They seem to forget that the play was void because he didn't get home before be-fore the batter hit the ball, and since the batter was thrown out at first to make the last out, the score didn't count. At that Beaver is entitled to do some boasting since they won every game; front the local team last year and are now even with them this year. Local fans feel that St. George can and will beat Beaver, but the St. George ball players will have to go out there and play at though they really wanted to win. Otherwise Larson will again pitch "Superb Ball" and carry them around in his pocket.
