Show UTAH TURKEYS NOW BEING MARKETED The Richfield station of the Utah Co-op started receiving turkeys and other poultry Saturday. Poultry was eceived Friday at Marysvale by the association. This service to poultry raisers, most of the crops being contracted, con-tracted, extends over the entire southern south-ern part of the state, and has now become, it is declared, the most effective ef-fective manner to market the big annual an-nual poultry crop. The poultry industry in southeast Utah has been growing by leaps and bounds since 1923, when the first cooperative co-operative marketing plan was inaugurated inaug-urated to provide an outlet. Annually Annual-ly the association handles thousands of cases of eggs in addition to dressed poultry. This year, it is said, the turkey supply, while considered ample am-ple for the Thanksgiving and Christmas Christ-mas holiday seasons, will not be as large as in 1927. A number of the poultry growers of Sevier and Piute counties are members mem-bers of the Cooperative Marketing association, as-sociation, but the independent growers, grow-ers, so-called, who remain outside the ranks, are said to be numerous. However, How-ever, they readily contract their crops to the association, and take advantage ad-vantage of the marketing avenue it affords in ratio almost equal to those who are actual members. |
