Morris, passed away at her home here Tuesday afternoon af-ternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Mrs. Morris had been in poor health since 1893 when she suffered an attack of la grippe from which she never fully recovered. Many times during the past few months her life has been in the balance, but she always rallied just at the moment when it seemed that death was at hand. Annabella Macfarlane Morris was the daughter of John M. and Ann C. Macfarlane. She was born at Cedar Ce-dar City, Iron county, Utah, August 14, 1860. She came to St. George with her parents in the fall of 1868 and has lived here ever since, going through the hardships in the development devel-opment of Dixie. She was married to David H. Morris on December 21, 1881, in the St. George temple, by John T. D. McAllister, Mc-Allister, and four sons and two daughters were born to them. Two of the sons and one daughter died while quite young. The children surviving their mother are D. Claud Morris, Wm. M. Morris and Flora Brooks, all residents of St. George, and her foster fos-ter daughter, Helen Forsha, who became be-came a member of the family upon the death of her mother, Lottie Ash- (Continued on page S) SOUTH UTAH PIONEER PASSES (Continued from page 1) by Forsha. At that time she was less than one year of age. Mrs. Morris was at one time president presi-dent of the East Ward Relief Society, So-ciety, and was one of the stake officers of-ficers of the Relief Society, and later worked in the ward Primary for three years. She was a member of the stake board of the Primary association. as-sociation. She has been almost an invalid since 1803, the result of an attack of la grippe, and other afflictions. Besides her husband and four cnuaren, she leaves sixteen grandchildren grand-children and fourteen brothers and sisters, as' follows: John M. Macfar-lane Macfar-lane and Janet Macfarlane of Salt Lake City; William, Dr. M. J., Erastus and Annie Macfarlane of Cedar City; Mrs. H. G. Mathis, Price; Urie Macfarlane, Mrs. Andrew Win-sor Win-sor and Mrs. John Benson of St. George; Mrs. Clarence Clark of Monroe; Mon-roe; Alexander and Hurbert Macfarlane Macfar-lane and Emma Forsha of Ogden. The beautiful floral offerings, the large attendance, and the tributes trib-utes paid by the speakers all attested at-tested to the esteem in which Mrs. Morris was held by residents throughout through-out southern Utah. |
