Show PAROWAN UNVEILS SOLDIER MONUMENT Parowan, -Summit and Paragonnah joined in the unveiling of the Service Serv-ice Star Legion's monument as the feature of the joint armistice day celebration of the three towns. The memorial, an elaborate multiple multi-ple fountain, typifies the meaning of -Dowan xchir-h is Ute for "clear water." The monument is erected rn the east side of the public square. It has a large granite base, and from this pedestal rises a gray granite shaft on which is a shield, to receive re-ceive the names of the world war veterans. Near the top is the star of the Service Star Legion, and above that a dark granite sphere. Mrs. Laura Clark of Parowan, who had three sons in the war, and Mrs. Openshaw of Paragoonah, mother of Arthur Openshaw, who lost his life in the war, jointly unveiled the shaft. |
