Show 1 - J Jensen Gladys Peterson Phone 789-1945 Students get set for school year Registration at the new Davis Elementary School will begin on August 15 from 8:30 to 3 and August 16 from 8:30 to noon for the kindergarten students, and August 16 and 17 all day for grades one through five. The students will not only attend a new school but have a new principal and teachers as well. During registration students and parents will be escorted on a tour around the new building so the children will get acquainted with their classrooms and the library. The young adults of MIA enjoyed a river float trip from Flaming Gorge Dam to Little Hole Saturday. There were 33 kids and leaders that enjoyed the trip. When they reached Little Hole they enjoyed making their own cold cut sandwiches and washed them down with plenty of pop. Enjoying the first trip so much, the group put in the river again for a second trip down. On their way home they saw the aftermath after-math of the tragic double tanker wreck on Highway 44. Some residents saw in action the hot job the city police undertook of directing direc-ting traffic at the intersection where the lights were powerless due to the power failure that occured Saturday morning in Vernal. The second cutting of hay is in the varying stages of being harvested for the summer of '83. We've finally got some sweltering days that are helping gardens and fields grow. Mr. and Mrs. Drew Christiansen and family traveled to Salt Lake to visit Drew's parents. The children stayed for a while to visit their grandparents. Mrs. Reita Ruppe and two children, Mrs. Cindy Hall and Jennifer traveled travel-ed to Rexburg, Idaho, where Mrs. Ruppe and children attended a reunion. reu-nion. The group stayed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Clark, relatives. They enjoyed a lovely weekend of visiting then returned home bringing with them their mother and grandmother, grand-mother, Mrs. Reva Ruppe, who had the opportunity of being at the Clark's home for a week. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Ainge had the honor of attending the Miss Colorado Pre-Teen Pageant in Denver, Colo, at the women's college there. The Ainges went to see their granddaughter, Julie Moody, who was a contestant for the honored title. The talent that Julie chose was a modern dance routine. She was the recipient of a watch presented to her for selling the most ads to support her. Julie was sponsored spon-sored by Moody Construction, Brian and Sandra Conrado, Dr. David and Judy Eskelson of Meeker, Colo., Grant and Marba Ainge, and Morgan and Vicky Ainge of Jensen. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Southam and family from Chico, Calif., have been visiting in Jensen and surrounding areas with her parents the Wm. Turners, his parents, the Ralph Southams, in Naples and their brothers and sisters and families in-Naples, in-Naples, Maeser, and Vernal. Mr. and Mrs. Meril Snow were honored to have all their children in-attendance in-attendance at a suprise birthday dinner din-ner to honor their father. They were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Snow and children of Grand Junction, Colo., Mr. and Mrs. Morris Casperson and children of Roosevelt, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Francom and sons of Green River, Wyoming, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Hiatt and sons of Vernal and Mr. and Mrs. John Snow and children from Jensen, also attending her son's special day was Mrs. Alice Snow. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Francom and sons have been visiting her parents, the Meril Snows, for the past week. Mrs. Alice Snow traveled to Salt Lake with her sister, Edna Raines; while there they visited at the Errol Burns home. The children of the Ralph Snows from Grand Junction, Colo, stayed a week with their grandparents, the Meril Snows. The annual mother daughter evening even-ing that was held the third of August was a success this year. After opening the meeting the group was divided up into two groups. Then the ladies and girls were rotated into the miniclasses that were well planned plann-ed for the evening. They enjoyed aerobics, barrette making and a charm class. Gathering into the cultural hall, they all enjoyed a fashion show under the direction of Janice Sharp. Luncheon was served to all present. The tables were decorates with alternate alter-nate small bouquets and fancy doll cakes that were served as a dessert. Approximately one hundred and twenty twen-ty came to enjoy the evening. The Jerimiah Hatch Murray reunion was held at the Park Pavilion Saturday. Satur-day. Many descendents from here attended. The Peter F. Peterson reunion will be held at the Dee Curfew residence in Jensen under the direction of Mrs. Debbie Clark. The fun will begin at 3 with games, programs, a barbeque and ice cream making. All descendents of this family line are en couraged to come and renew , acquaintenances.
