Silver Trans Am comes to rest on its top after 1 the driver lost control and rolled the vehicle vehi-cle at 2400 North Vernal Ave. High speed chase results in automobile rollover A high speed pursuit early Friday morning of last week lead to injuries of two Vernal residents after their vehicle lost control and rolled. At 1:03 a.m., officer Clay Hamann, Vernal City Police, observed a silver Trans Am leaving the north 7-11 store at a high rate of speed, said Robert T. Downard, Vernal City Police. Hamann pulled behind the vehicle which sped up and a chase insued of 80 to 100 mph through Vernal's residental and business district. The vehicle ran off the road several times and rammed police vehicles to escape, Downard said. On north w nal Avenue at about 24O0 North i driver lost control and the vehw! rolled. Driver of the vehicle was identified as Jerry Ortiz, 22, of Vernal aaj Thomas L. Anderson, 20, of Vernal Both were transferred to AsbJer Valley Medical Center. Ortiz wa released from the hospital Tuesday and Anderson was listed in stable condition. Investigation into the incident is am. tinuing with charges of drunken dm. ing and resisting arrest pending. |
