Tridell, Lapoint approve $500,000 water bond Water users in Tridell and Lapoint Monday approved by a wide margin a $500,000 bond issue, much of which will help pay for expansion of the area's water treatment plant. The $860,000 expansion project, including a 400,000-gallon water tank, about six and a half miles of water line and an additional module for the treatment plant is needed if an elementary school is to be built. The State's safe drinking water commmittee has said that no new connections to the system may be made without expansion of the plant, which has a capacity of 327 connections. The Utah Board of Water Resources will purchase $300,000 of the bonds, and the remaining bonding capacity will be held in reserve, said bond counsel Ray Nash. A $410,000 impact aid grant from the state and water system revenues will also pay for the project, said Nash. The vote was 97-0 in Tridell district and 75-34 in Lapoint for approval. |
