Show Building trades representatives hold meeting The Uintah Basin Area Vocational Center recently hosted eight representatives from the Utah Building Trades Council in an apprenticeship orientation and exploration program. The two day program was held in Vernal April 26 and Roosevelt April 27. Its purpose was to bring youth, labor and industry together in quality programs of apprenticeship and on-the-job training. , The students were told about the . standards of training required by apprenticeship programs and how to maintain their status after being accepted. They were taught how employers, union, and apprectices (employees) cooperate in apprentice training programs. ' Ralph Van Dam represented the ironworkers; Donald Nelson was with the carpenters-building trades; Fred Gallegos with the cement finishers while Ed Evans represented the plumbers and pipe fitters. The sheet metal craft was represented by Michael R. Cooper; Rickie Bryan from the operating engineers, and Hardy Pertl from the roofers. The State Office of Education was represented by Ralph Anderson, Trades and Industry Specialist for the State of Utah. |
