The portion of road is the cause of a bus overturn a few ars ago, and the road is used daily by merous families living in the own's Park area, including school lldren. The road improvement had Jen questioned by the Department of itural Resources, stating concern er the effects on wildlife. Once the fggett County Commissioners had "d out the entire improvement plan, ; Department consented to the oposal. Federal secondary fund oney will be used to assist in the road iprovement. The second problem area the Daggett unty Commissioners requested the "wernor to look into was the - tribution of recreational funds by the I Jden Regional office of the U.S. irest Service. More of the Flaming rge National Recreation Area funds e being held by the Ashley National irest headquarters in Vernal for ministrating the area and less of the oney is going to the area itself. :cording to Commissioner Jerrv aylor, the administrative budget ice 1978 has increased while cutbacks "...to the ground" expenditures are ticeable campground closures are creases in provided services. One ggested remedy was the possible mover of the National Recreation ea back to the National Park rvice. The third problem involved impact , Daggett County by oil exploration id drilling outside the county. The feet on the county is noted through peases in the crime figures in .iggett County since the oil I ploration began in the area in 1978. suance of citations by the Daggett unty Sheriff's department, cording to a report compiled by eriff Gaylen Jarvie, indicates an ""v, :rease of 670 percent in the issuance citations, an increase in arrests of DO percent and crimes never before A " committed in the area are increasing with regularity. Governor Scott Matheson is scheduled to meet later this month with Governor Ed Herschler of Wyoming to discuss the problems associated with "...across the border" impact from oil exploration and drilling between the two states.;- - Daggett County is particularly concerned with this problem, as there are numerous oil rigs just outside of Daggett County whose employees utilize Daggett's facilities, impacting all aspects of county government. Under normal circumstance, impact on an area can be covered by county taxes or regulations, but in this situation where the affecting oil rigs are not only outside the county but outside the state line, affects on the Sheriff's department, search and rescue, Emergency Medical Technicians and other public services must be suffered by the county's residents. |
