Show Southeast Utah to Get New Oil Exploration Mobil Oil Corporation has announced it will drill a scheduled 6,600 foot test to the Paradox formation in the extreme corner of Southeastern South-eastern Utah's San Juan County. The well is No. 1 Federal JJ in section 5, township town-ship 37s, range 26e, about 21 miles east and a little south of the town of Blanding. Carlton Stowe, Utah Geological Geolo-gical . Survey, reports the new well is some 15 miles northeast of Desert Creek formation production found at Alkali Canyon field. Production Pro-duction there is at a depth of 6,400 feet. The Papoose Canyon field in Colorado is about six miles to the east. In other San Juan County oil and gas activity, Union Oil of California is continuing contin-uing tests at a Lisbon field development well No. D-814 D-814 Unit. Union's well is bottomed bot-tomed at 8,965 feet. Rotary rig is being moved to the site for McAlester Fuel Co.'s projected 5,80o foot test of Paradox formation in the Butler Wash area north of the town e-f Bluff. In Grand County, Petro-Lewis Petro-Lewis Corporation is drilling drill-ing below 3,300 feet at . a scheduled 3,600 foot test of Morrison formation in the Bull Canyon area northeast of Crescent Junction. |
