Show Atty. Gen. Drops Moab Law Case Attorney General Vernon ' B. Romney informed The Times this week that the in-' in-' vestigation which has been continuing for the past sev- ; eral months into problems . between the Grand County Sheriff's office and the Moab City Police department has ' been closed. ' After interviewing more than 40 witnesses and working work-ing with federal agencies . during the past few months, Mr. Romney stated that the office of the Attorney Gen- . eral has not been able to obtain testimony from any witnesses which would make it possible- to file a felony charges against anyone involved. in-volved. Romney did state, however, that he felt that the situation situa-tion here is intolerable and that it must be corrected. At this point, that it must be by the people -themselves, he continued. In many., areas, Romney pointed out, it is possible for City and County 'agencies to work together under a system such as we now have in Grand County ' In some areas that .coopera- . tion . is not possible, he said. That means that - a change in the system of government should be seriously considered. consider-ed. Proposition No.. 4 on the upcoming November ballot would allow County governments govern-ments to select the kind of government which would best suit their needs and, Romney stated, in the case of Grand County a change could be most benificial. t |
