Show Maj. Powell's Daring Trek Recreated on TV Special Major John Wesley Powell's historic and daring trek 1,000 miles down the Colorado River Ri-ver in 1869 will be recreated in a one-hour television special spe-cial to be seen Friday, October Octo-ber 20th, 8:00 to 9:00 p.m.. on the CBS Television Network. Net-work. The program will be carried in Utah by KSL-Tele-vision, Channel 5, Salt Lake City. "99 Days to Survival" features fea-tures former astronaut Wally Schirra as he and nine companions com-panions trace Powell's route in a voyage that reveals views of majestic canyons in parts of four states including southeastern south-eastern Utah's famed Canyonlands Can-yonlands region. Viewers will see Schirra running the Colorado Colo-rado River rapids as E.G. Marshall narrates the program pro-gram reading from Powell"s journals. This "final chapter in the history of exploration in the American West" is one of the "Smithsonian Adventure", series. |
