Show Hanksville News . . . By Barbara Ekker A petition Is being circulated circu-lated within Wayne County to expedite Industrial Development Develop-ment In Wayne County and it concerns the strip mining of coal deposits in the Factory Butte area which Is close to the proposed coal operated power generating plant to be constructed near Salt Wash. Executives of Atlas Resources Resour-ces Inc. have a coal lease In that area and are being hampered ham-pered in their operation. The petition signers agree that such a mining venture would be to the highest and best Interest In-terest of Wayne County and to the area residents. Hanksvllle students on the Wayne High School Honor Roll for this semester are: Nona Lee Johnson, Rita Ann Ekker, Kim Sellers, Coleen Johnson, Brenda Sellers, Lynette Mor rell Johnson, Hyrum Noyes, George Jackson and Lorl Bullard. Wayne High School track and field team entered competition com-petition In Richfield April 11 and Karmln Hunt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kay Hunt was the only participant who placed In competition. Emma Jorgensen Bird, 69, died April 11, In the Richfield Nursing Home. She was a co-owner co-owner of Capitol Reef Lodge In Capitol Reef National Monument. Mon-ument. Survivors include her sons, Clair, o' Capitol Reef, and Archie Jr. of Anaheim, Calif, and a daughter, Mrs. ""tahna Andra, Manteca, Ca. Nine grandchildren and eleven ele-ven great grandchildren. A brother, Ephrlam of La Ver-klng Ver-klng and a sister, Mrs. Dewey Dew-ey (Nell) Glfford, TorreyaLso survive. Services were held In the Sallna third ward with burial there also. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Ekker were In Provo Thursday on business. Hyrum Noyes and Wayne Shirley are among the cast members for the school musical, mu-sical, "Carosel" being presented pre-sented this week at Wayne High Auditorium. Mrs. Edna Roblson accompanied accom-panied her granddaughtor, Debra May, to Green River Friday where she attended the musical recital that evening in which another granddaughter, granddaugh-ter, Jayme May, took part. |
