Show Troops 617 and 666 went on a joint bike hike and cook-out cook-out last Saturday. Robin Hen-ningson Hen-ningson led 27 others on bikes and 5 girls rode in cars that did not have bikes. Leaving Lea-ving the Scout House they traveled to the interesectlon of 5th West and the North Highway. Girls were shown the remains of the old Fort and a brief history was studied. stu-died. From there they traveled to the "King of the World" man and horse carved high on hillside rock across the road from the Sundowner, Girls built fires in patrols and cooked their noon meal. On the return trip they were given a tour of the old Taylor place by Stacey Lawrence, Law-rence, current occupant. Leader Lea-der of Troop 617 Diane Norman Nor-man met the girls there for a brief history of the surrounding sur-rounding area. Mothers driving cars were Else Daniels and Judy Holy-oak Holy-oak and mothers helping with the girls were Elaine Hor-ton, Hor-ton, Linda McKlnney and Danny Dan-ny Wlnfleld. This passes off the Cyclist badge for most of the girls and also filled requirements on the Heritage Trails section of our bicentennial bicen-tennial projects on learning about historic places in our area. |
