Show Master Plan Input Sought On Area Parklands The Nal ional Park Service Ser-vice has inviled public input on the master plan study on two southwestern southwest-ern a reas, Glen Canyon N a I i o n a I Recreation Area and Rainbow Bridge National Monument. Ca rloch .Johnson, superintendent sup-erintendent of both areas, said an informal preplanning meeting will be held at the Lake Powell Pow-ell Visitor Center in Page, Arizona, April 12, beginning at It) a.m. A team from the Park Service will conduct on-site on-site studies of the areas beginning April 9. .Johnson said comments and views are sought from all interested groups and individuals. He urged those who wish to have their views considered con-sidered by the team to submit written or verbal statements. For those unable lo attend the meeting, written statements state-ments can be mailed to Supt. .Johnson. Box 1507, Page, Arizona 86040. (Hen Canyon, located in southern Utah and the northern tip of Arizona, includes the waters of Lake Powell and the surrounding sur-rounding desert. Rainbow Rain-bow Bridge, standing in southeastern Utah, can only be reached by trail or bv boat on Lake Powell. Pow-ell. The team study will result in a master plan which is a general plan for park use, development develop-ment and management. The team will attempt to determine future needs for such things as visitor visit-or facilities and accommodations, ac-commodations, roads and exhibits. The team will consider grazing, mining, utility rights-of-way, Indian tr ibes, river regulation, irrigation, flood control, hunting, fishing and trapping. They will also consider the proposed road and wilderness studies which were required re-quired by the Establishment Establish-ment Act of 1972. Final planning details such as floor plans and construction will not be covered. |
