Show Dear Sam: During a recent visit to my soon-to-be Hometown. Home-town. Moab. I had an experience I would like to share with your readers. read-ers. Since one of my hobbies is photography a panoramic view of Moab seemed in order. In pursuit of this I was told Poison Spider Mesa would yield the results I wanted. After a three and one half hour drive "The Mesa" Me-sa" was conquered. The view was everything promised and much more. I went to great lengths to stabilize my camera for clear pictures. pic-tures. I shot off what seemed to be about 25 feet of film. The results can be best described as photographers photo-graphers buck fever. To my surprise, when the film returned from the processor. I had my pictures pic-tures of Shafer Canyon. Arches National Park was there too. but there was not foot, not even a frame of Moab. Apparently. Ap-parently. I was more awe inspired than I thought. I shall try again. Sincerely. Duane Bolton St. Peter. Mi mi. Dear Sam: This letter is about people owning dogs that time them in the day time and let them loose to prowl at night. Last Thursday night, a large dog jumped my pasture fence, that is high, crippled a sheep and a turkey, and ate a chicken. The next time the owner will not only have a dead dog. but damages to pay. Why can't at least once a week, a night patrol be made to pick up prowling dogs, they are dangerous. danger-ous. F.ssie White. Dear Sam: This letter is in reference ref-erence to Mr. Martin's article: "Grass Roots America -- Return of POW's Restores America's Ameri-ca's Spirit." What has happened to the popular government that has two sides with one being that the min-oritv min-oritv is protected'.' So that the the Democracy rules but the republic protects the minority'.' Our three branches of government, judiciary, executive and Congress'.' And the very idea of a Congress that is elected by the people and divided into two houses--the Upper Up-per House to protect the minority and the Lower House to allow the majority to rule'.' W hat has happened to life, liberty, and the pursuit pur-suit of happiness: liberty and justice for ALL: forgive for-give us our debts as we forgive our debtors; malice toward none. Are the conservative right wingers who supported this kind of government by backing Gnklwater and ion so quick to forget that popularit. of majuritv rules is the very democracy they so spitefully hated a few yea rs ago. Are they now sa.ing the young man who went I" prison should never be given the second chance in life? And on the other hand, are they saving, the minority who do not believe in an undeclared un-declared war should not be given a second chance. Is amnesty so rewarding that we must change the name to ani -mosit '.' You had better remember re-member the popularitv of I DR and LHI before you get too ca rried away with Nixon's popularity of malice toward the minority . The patriotic popularity of the POW's (who deserve our applause) ap-plause) has nothing to do with approving of the war. Amnesty should be forthcoming -- but America Am-erica does not always follow the sane course, because of (he myth of popula rity . The truth is that it is slill an undeclared war a violation on the part of the president. It is a violation of law and order ord-er and the U.S. Constitution Constitu-tion and it took President Presi-dent Nixon '1 years to carry out Goldwalcr's plan to end the war-by bombing Hanoi and mining min-ing the harbor which of course was very unpopular un-popular at the time. Can any of us accept the unpopular subject of I intliV Law simply brings (lie sure knowledge know-ledge of sin. Sincerely, Kenneth L. Lnglish |
