Cleanup Drive Here Gettinq Underway Residents of Grand County and Moab will be asked to "Pitch In" during dur-ing the annual cleanup drive to be held next week, April 8 through 14, according to Loraine Ilofer, chairman of the cleanup campaign. To make residents more aware of the litter problem in our area, several thousand litter bags will be distributed free of charge to local merchants for their customers. cus-tomers. Both KURA Radio and Town Television have indicated that they will cooperate in advertising the campaign and will run Pitch In public service ser-vice announcements during the coming week. It is also planned that Pitch In bumper stickers will be placed on sanitation sani-tation trucks and city vehicles. These bumper stickers will also be available from Mrs. Hofer. Special cleanup activities acti-vities will be held on April 14. when the actual drive will be made, Mrs. Hofer said. The campaign will center around work within districts of town with district leaders in charge of each area. The work in the areas will be coordinated by Mrs. Hofer and Judy Carmichael. It is anticipated antici-pated that City and County crews will be available on cleanup day to lend their aid in removal re-moval of litter collected at residences. Itisasked that any trash which is to be collected at homes be moved to the curb where it can be easily loaded by heavy equipment. equip-ment. Representatives from several civic groups will also be working on the campaign and will be supplying lunches and carrying coffee and doughnuts to those persons per-sons working on cleanup day. Keith Peterson, president presi-dent of the Chamber of Commerce, announced Tuesday that the flowers will be planted by a group of Boy Scouts on the weekend of April 28. Some 65 dozen petunias will be planted at that time, he said. Chamber members are also working work-ing on a plan to place an ordinance regulating disposal of inoperable automobiles into effect. This ordinance, Mr. Peterson Pe-terson said, is patterned after one already in effect ef-fect elsewhere in Utah.
