Show CEU meeting drew federation members Women of the Eastern District Dis-trict of the Utah Federation of Women's Clubs met Saturday, Oct. 29 at the College of Eastern Utah for a fall board meeting and drug and alcohol seminar. District business was conducted con-ducted by Mrs. Lee J. Dia-manti, Dia-manti, district president. The clubs included in the district are the Helper Woman's Club, Price Sorosis, Green River Woman's Club, Woman's Literary Lit-erary Club of Moab, Ladies' Improvement of Orangeville and Rebus Rota Literary of Monticello. Invocation was by District Home Life Chairman, Palma Jacobs of the Moab Club, welcome was by Mrs. Dia-manti. Dia-manti. Goals were announced by District Chairman Ethel Birch of Education, Tia Imai of the Arts, Jen Pope of C.T.P. and Mrs. Jacobs of Home Life. Mrs. Viola Oni has been appointed to fill the vacancy of corresponding secretary, sec-retary, left at the death of Peggy Larsen. State chairmen chair-men giving presentations were Jeanette McAlpine of education and Mrs. Diamanti of International Hospitality. The afternoon session start- ed with the welcome by Dean Elliott Fairbanks of CEU and luncheon. Orientation was by R. J. Courtney, director of education and prevention of alcoholism and drugs, state division. Theme of the workshop was Alcohol, the Community, and Women. Mrs. Lorraine LaTu-lippe, LaTu-lippe, director of community services for the state division presented Alcohol and Women Wom-en and the alcohol film of the year, 'The New Life of Sandra San-dra Blaine." Treatment issues, the family, fami-ly, the community and the professional was given by James Weir, the Family Service Ser-vice supervisor of Grand, Emery and Carbon County and Mr. Larry Leonard, Mt. Harmon Jr. High principal, presented Prevention, the schools and the community. Women attending from the southern half of the district which consists of Moab, Green River and Monticello were Helen Tidwell, district treasurer treas-urer of Green River, and of Moab, Ann Pool, district secretary sec-retary and publicity chairman; chair-man; Rosalie Robertson, Moab Mo-ab club treasurer; Mrs. Pope; Mrs. Jacobs; and Hilda Un-ger, Un-ger, club education chairman. |
