Show BLM reviews a year of operations under new land law A little over a year has passed since the Federal Land Policy and Management Act was signed into law. Some changes have caused concern, while many others have passed unnoticed. According to Gene Day, District Manager of the Bureau of Land Management, implementation of the Act provides congressional support sup-port and continues the philosophy philos-ophy that began some 15 years ago in the BLM. The Federal Land Policy and Management Act defines this multiple use principle as: "...the management manage-ment of public lands and their various resource values so that they are utilized in the combination that will best meet the present and future needs of the American pec-pie..." pec-pie..." With the passage of the law, many new regulations were proposed.
