Kaisch was presented with various symbolic sym-bolic gifts representing the different aspects of his ministry. min-istry. He received a bible from the congregation, asking that he be among them as one who proclaims the gospel. He re ceived a container of water from Bishop Charles, and was enjoined to share with him the ministry of baptism. A container con-tainer of holy oil was presented present-ed by representatives of the congregation, who enjoyed him to be among them as a healer and reconciler. He received a loaf of bread and a container of wine so that he might be among the people as one who celebrates Eucharist Euchar-ist with them; a prayer book that he might be among them as a man of prayer; a stole, a symbol of the yoke, yoking him to Christ and His ministry in the world. Also during the ceremonies the new vicar preached a visionary sermon describing the rew spirit of reconciliation and looking into the future on how Episcopalians in the area might open themselves to the movement of the Holy Spirit. The service concluded with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist by Bishop Charles. Following the service, a reception was held in the parish hall, planned and carried car-ried out by the women of the parish. Fr. Kaisch expressed pleasure at the attendance of Pastor E.M. Balla of the Community Baptist Church and Fr. F.L. Winder, vicar of the Episcopal Church of the Good Sheperd, of Ogden. Fr. Kaisch's installation was one not only of his new role in Moab, but also establishing estab-lishing a new concept for mission and ministry develop-ed develop-ed by the Episcopal Diocese of I Utah, extending his respons-1 respons-1 ibility over a geographic area encompassing Grand and San Juan Counties, and Green River. Essentially, this new concept con-cept is a way of allocating resources appropriate to the need within the state of Utah for the Episcopal Church, and was agreed upon in June at the state convention, after two years of consideration. The church is now exploring explor-ing ways of implementing the concept with Fr. Kaisch's ministry here. Currently he goes to Blanding and Green River once a month to call on church members and for a teaching ministry. |
