Show Candidates for Mayor outline their platforms By Harold Jacobs I am proud of the improvements improve-ments made in Moab City during the past 10 years that I have been involved as a City Councilman, including flood control, solid waste management, manage-ment, curb and gutter, street completion, additional water supply, updating of equipment equip-ment in the water and sewer department, and other projects proj-ects which have served to make Moab a desirable place to live. I am running for the office of Moab City Mayor because I feel I can continue to make a contribution, and I ask for your vote and support. If elected I will devote my untiring efforts in the following follow-ing areas: 1. Continuation of plans and programs of the present City Council. 2. Make every effort to encourage continued-control-led-growth of Moab. 3. Strive to encourage diversified, di-versified, permanent, industry indus-try that there may not be hills and valleys in future economic charts. 4. Be ever mindful that the majority of citizens are appreciative appre-ciative of the small, clean, friendly atmosphere we now enjoy. By Tom Stocks I was born and raised in Moab and will stay here. I have a large family, and am a working man. Therefore, I believe our interests are the same. I am optimistic about Mo-ab's Mo-ab's future and believe there is a need for orderly growth. We must prepare for the future in an orderly manner and be conservative so as to protect the working man's status and those on fixed income. I believe you and I want and need the same things. You and I want good schools, good streets and sidewalks, fine public facilities, all of which should be available for the convenience of the public, good public officials, fair law enforcement, equal justice for all, and a clean and attractive city. Yet to teach these goals we must not create a hardship for the average citizen. I believe in the utmost economy in city government and I propose to assume the responsibility of administration administra-tion as set forth under Utah Code 10-60-23, Code Section 10-6-24 and 10-3-809 for third class cities. I will do everything every-thing in my power to cut back on administrative expenses. I , propose to have a city recor- t der working in the office to' handle daily routine work i I do not propose that every, one in the present administra-tion administra-tion be fired from his or her job. However, I do propose that pooling of secretarial work be done and not have a secretary for every job. I believe public servants should serve while in office and not be served. I believe all problems, no matter how tri- . vial or small, should be hand-' led promptly in a fair, cour- teous and complete manner. I believe that the actions ; and reports of the City should ' be laid on the boss's desk, and I believe you are the BOSS. I believe in the citizens of Moab being well informed on past and future action of the city. Yes, I believe in these things and I think you do. If we are thinking somewhat alike, give me your vote nert Tuesday and in return I w give you four years of faithful service and never deviate from the proposition that I serve your interests to the very best of my ability. |
