Show Gubernatorial Candidate Speaker at Chamber John Creer, Democratic candidate for Governor, was guest speaker at the Moab Chamber of Commerce luncheon lunch-eon meeting Tuesday at the SunDowner. Mr. Creer is concerned about proper use of our natural and human resources while maintaining the integrity of Utah. At the meeting he stressed the importance of being ready for growth and not faltering in areas of sewage, water, roads, and buildings. He reported he had recently been to the Huntington Power Plant area and found many many problems concerning living arrangements causing unrest with local officials. He stated that many trailers have moved onto the main water shed of the area, which is BLM land, and no action is being taken. He motioned that local officials should have more say in such matters. He hopes that Utah like California can set more "destination "desti-nation centers" for tourists to plan to stay. He commented that although he has experienced experi-enced many outsiders on the ski hills of northern Utah, he likes it for the state, but not as an individual. A graduate of Salt Lake City's schools, Mr. Creer -received a bachelor's degree in banking and finance from the University of Utah. He also earned a juris doctor's degree from George Washington University Uni-versity Law School, Washington, Washing-ton, D.C. He presently practices prac-tices law and is a partner in a Salt Lake law firm. . Mr. Creer is also presently a Salt Lake County Commissioner Commission-er and serves as deputy Salt Lake County Attorney. He also has worked as a Young Democrat, a voting and legislative district chairman, a Democratic National Convention Conven-tion delegate and a campaign manager for several major campaigns. |
