Show Barley Strewn Over 1-70 Near Colorado About 24,000 pounds of barley was spilled over the westbound lane of 1-70 July 29 when the tongue on a tractor-trailer broke. The road was closed 7 hours before it was cleared. The accident happened at 10:45 p.m. nine miles west of the state line. Timothy Dale Curtis, 21, Montana, was drivirg a 1969 White Freight-liner Freight-liner west when the tongue broke. The trailer rolled end over end, spilling its load, and was completely demolished. Losses in the accident were estimated at $20,000 and there were no citations issued, according to Trooper John Kimball. On July 31 at 11:50 an acccident occurred on the river road, U128. Scott R. Bock, 20, Moab was westbound driving a 1972 Chevrolet pickup about 1 mile east of the US 50-6 junction. The truck ran into the rock wall on the south side of the road, sustaining about ' $2,000 damage. Neither Bock or his passenger, Chris Roberts, Rob-erts, 18, were injured. He was charged with driving while intoxicated. |
