They will also be featured on the record album, "The New which started with an accident on 1-70 Sunday. At 4:30 p.m. Aug. 1 Bruce E. Brown, 29, Madison Heights, Mich., was driving his 1973 Dodge van west on 1-70 about 7 miles east of Thompson. He apparently went to sleep at the wheel, the vehicle went off the road 498 feet, hig a culvert and went airborn 96 feet, then continued on 360 feet before coming to a rest. He was taken to Allen Memorial Hospital by Grand County Ambulance. Trooper John Kimball charged him with speeding, and estimated he had been traveling at close to 100 m.p.h. Damage to the van was estimated at $1,000 and it was towed to Crescent Junciton. Brown was released from the hospital during the afternoon after-noon Aug. 2, and a ride to Crescent Junction was arranged arrang-ed for him to retrieve clothing. Authorities did not know whether he went. Another accident report came in at 11:30 p.m. At the scene on the Kane Springs dugway a 1967 Ford pickup belonging to Clent Fisher was discovered. Evidently the truck had run up the side hill at high speed, and become airborn. It had rolled on down the dugway in 3 pieces, blocking all lanes of traffic. In the meantime a McFar-( McFar-( land and Hullinger ore truck driven by William Marlar, Jr., 24, Moab, had been parked alcyig with other approaching traffic, while the road was being cleared. It somehow rolled- back into a 1976 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Robert Block, 40, Pennsylvania. Pennsyl-vania. In turn the Monte Carlo was knocked back into a Chevrolet Vega, which was undamaged. The Chevrolet suffered about $800 damage. Brown was identified as the driver of the Fisher pickup by the discovery of his gas-soaked trousers, containing his wallet. He was not present at the scene, although blood was noted. Somehow he made his way back to Moab. At a truck and camper at the North Main Conoco station he turned up again, reportedly unclad. He got into an argument with a Moab youth who was there with three other young people. It was reported he demanded to be taken to Las Vegas. An altercation with a gun ensued, and the gun , discharged several times be-. be-. fore it was thrown a distance away by one of they boys. iThey reported to authorities, and one boy was treated for bites. Later Brown entered a private residence, still nude and blood covered, and he was given a pair of cutoffs to wear by the man of the house. He was picked up there by Sgt. Larry Rowley and taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident and fight. He remained in the hospital Tuesday, and complaints were being prepared under the direction of Sheriff W. H. Bowman. Beehive Songster - Early Recordings of Pioneer Folk Music" soon to be released.
