Bishop Leo Dee Jackson officiated. They will make their home in Hanksville where Keven is employed with . MRC and reside in the Carl Hunt mobil rental. Dale Johnson stood as best man and Darla's sister, Nancy Ann, was her matron of honor. Mr. John Slay has arrived in Hanksville and has begun his duties as Field Operations Manager for MRC. Lynn Bunting is the driller for Uintah Basin Drilling who are doing work in the North Wash area for uranium. Mrs. Carolyn Hatch and two daughters returned from Salt Lake where she has been visiting her sister, Paula Howland and daughter. Deer season for the Henry's lasted five days with BUCK ONLY restrictions. Some beauties were brought out along with the unusual. Horace Ekker downed a 'cactus buck' with nine points on one side and eight on the other .but minus teeth and quite gant. Bert May and Kerry Bruce Ekker got some of the oldies in the Bromide Basin but most of the luck went to the outsiders with the 'locals' not bagging anything. Pheasant season opened Saturday with the fields swarming with outsiders from upper Wayne County, Spring-ville Spring-ville and even Salt Lake. The birds seemed plentiful until the first shots were fired and then it seemed they 'dug in' and were hard to roust out unless one had a good dog. Mr. and Mrs. Mavor Gatehouse, Gate-house, Salt Lake, are visiting the Harold Ekkers for the pheasant hunt and to celebrate Mrs.. Nell Ekker's birthday. Mrs. Ekker will return to Salt Lake for a medical appointment appoint-ment Monday. Received a call Friday from Robert Redford stating he'd be in this area the following Tuesday to do some filming with members of National Georgraphic Magazine staff. His first stops were in Browns Park where he visited Allen Ranch, then to Bottle Hollow, Nine Mile Canyon, then to Green River. There he met Arthur and A.C. Ekker and Pete Tooker and they toured Robbers Roost. Snow fell Friday morning and handicap- ped travel somewhat but the pictures were beautiful. Mr. Redford has written an article for the National Geographic Geo-graphic as a Bicentennial endeavor. Redford plans included in-cluded an interview with Mrs. Edna Ekker Robison, who might have known Tom Horn, a hired killer sent into Brown's Park during the outlaw days to kill cattle rustlers at $500 a head. Redford will portray Horn in his upcoming movie. The group went on to Bullfrog, where they boarded a houseboat and will boat to Page where the Ekkers met them with horses for more filming. Those in the Redford group were Mr. and Mrs. Johnson Blair and Terry Minger from Vale, Co. Minger is the City Manager of Vail. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Arensmciter and Kim Whitesides of Fort Collins, Co.; Mrs. Arensmeicr is the daughter of the late Chet Huntley, newscaster. Graveside services were held Tuesday for the baby daughter of Bob and Debbie Coon who died at birth at St. Mary's hospital in Grand Junction. Bob and Debbie operate the Poor Boy Service Station here and are former Arizona residents. Services were private and conducted by an uncle. Debbie's mom and two sisters were in attendance from Oklahoma and remained a few days before returning home. Hope Miller and Fred Seely were united in marriage last week in Farmington, N.M., with her daughter, Nola Ann and husband in attendance. Both were employees of Hydro-Jet Services at Shoot-A-Ring Creek. Hope is formerly from Cainsville and the daughter daugh-ter of Mr. Elmer Peterson; Fred is a resident of Green River. Residents woke up to three inches of snow early the morning of the 24th. Power lines were snapped by heavily leafed branches around town which weren't repaired until nearly noon. Mrs. Margaret Bullard was in Provo Thursday on business. busin-ess. She is the secretary for MRC for their Hanksville offices. . Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Ekker. Reno, Nev., will arrive the 14th en route to Oklahome City where Bruce will attend classes in connection with his employment with the Federal Aviation Administration. They will return here Christmas when school is completed. I erred last week when I announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of John Jackson and Kim Sellers. I wrote John had served in the Army when it was a four-year hitch in the Marines. The school held their annual Halloween party Friday evening even-ing with all the goblins and spooks in full costume. The ladies of the PTA created a "SPOOK ALLEY" in the town hall and thrilled and frightened frighten-ed the children. Very little mischief was done to property because of the supervised activity. Bill and Pearl Wells from Idaho are visiting with Mrs. Ida Weber this week while Bill is assisting the Paces and Chad Moore round up cattle of the late Ford Weber and taking them in to the auction. Pete Vrontikes is visiting the Dennis Ekkers from his home in Salt Lake and doing some pheasant hunting. Mrs. Harold Erickson, Loa, has been visiting the Kay Erickson family the past week. Kay is the new operator of the Phillip's 66 station west of town and his wife is the former June Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen P. Johnson. Mrs. Jeannine Hunt and sons, Greg and Karmin, visited her sister, Audrey Tuft, and family last week. In Salt Lake they attended the farewell fare-well testimonial for Claudia Tuft who will leave soon for Hawaii and attended Audrey's birthday celebration. Charles Kimbcrle has returned retur-ned to his home in Blanding after spending several months here mining uranium with Ray Lyman at North Wash. Charles resided with Edna Ekker Robison while employed here. Out-of-town guesls at the Robison-Anderson wedding Saturday were Victor Ewcll. Karen Robert. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Ewcll, Kerry Throckmorton, Throck-morton, all of Payson; Mrs. Lily Cook, and Mrs. Helen Davis of Salem; Mrs. Dessie Nielsen and daughter Suzanne. Suz-anne. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Carter and Mr. and Mrs. Hale Robison and daughter. Gcn-ola. Gcn-ola. Dinner was served to nearly 60 guests who attended the wedding. Assisting with the wedding dinner were Mrs. RaLene Ekker, Mrs. Rita Ekker and Mrs. Marilyn Sellers. Mr. and Mrs. Danny Al-brecht Al-brecht and daughter have moved to Loa where Dan is working for an oil drilling company. Mrs. Ivan Holt accompanied her sister and husband to Salt Lake last week after they'd spent some time here with the Holts at the Granite Ranch. Mrs. Holt is working at the Jim and Ell's Steak House at present. Riter Ekker has returned home following minor surgery in Price and allergy tests in Salt Lake this past week. Mark and Donna Stewart are residing in the Ford Weber apartment. Mark is a partner with La Var Wells, both from Arizona, in well drilling operations here. |
