Show Letter To Editor... Dear Editor: 1 was in Moab for the 1975 deer hunt. I would like to make some comments on your deer hunting that may be of interest to you or your readers. I have lived in Moab most of my life and have lived in Arizona for only about 5 years. I have hunted deer for more than 25 years in Utah. We hunted on the south end of La-Sal Mountains. There are some things taking place in the deer herds that people should be aware of. In the previous years I have only seen one or two coyotes. This year we saw numerous coyotes with the herds of does and fawns. We found many piles of bones left by the coyotes. Also. e did not see any two (2) point bucks this year, which is an indication that many fawns were killed by coyotes last year. There were very few large bucks. This is the first time I have not been able to get a buck. 1 don't see why the Fish and Game Department cannot see this. Something must be done about the coyotes, or there won't be any deer. About eight (8) years ago. they removed the traps from Arizona. Today there are very few deer left in Arizona and they are getting thinner each year. Please don't let this happen to Utah. Do something bclore your deer herds are gone. Your friend. Ron Zufelt |
