Show Mission Clothing Program Continues in 28th Year The clothing program of St. Christopher's Mission to the Navajo, Bluff, Utah, has provided continual service ser-vice to the Navajo people living in southeastern Utah Ut-ah since the Mission, was founded in 1943. The work of the Mission extends over ov-er all of the Navajo Reservation Res-ervation in Utah and strives to serve the People in any of several ways. Committed to the belief that the Navajo people, as people anywhere, must be imet and served as a whole person, the Clothing Program Pro-gram is seen as one way to accomplish this. The early staff soon found that many of the People needed need-ed clothing and when they called on the Mission's sup. , porters throughout the country the answering response re-sponse was great. From this simple start the program has continued. continu-ed. In 1970 nearly SCO fa-'-imiily units received clothing clo-thing at the Mission coming from this part of the reservation, northern Arizona and Blanding. Because the supply of clothing available is limited limi-ted by wlhaf) is received and because of the number num-ber of families involved, each family is allowed to receive clothing once each month on the regular Sat. u relay distribution day. Families are asked for a donation of $1.00 each to help cover freight and other expenses. Mrs. Bue-na Bue-na Gaines is in charge of the program. The Mission calendar for the week of January 17th-23rd 17th-23rd includes on Sunday the regular Masses at An. eth and Bluff. Food stamps wjill be sold on Monday from 9 a.m. - 12 noon. On Tuesday and Thursday re-ligius re-ligius education classes will be held at Aneth and Teec Nos Pos. Field visitations visi-tations will be made during dur-ing the week. |
