Show District Court Session Held Here Tuesday Seventh Judicial District Court was in session in Grand County Tuesday, with Judge Edward Sheya presiding. In the case of the State vs. Dennis Bailey, the defendant appeared with counsel for arraignment. The substance of the complaint was read by the court in the interest of time, and the defendant entered a , guilty plea to the charge of I distribution of a controlled I substance for value. The defense counsel made a I plea for probation. The court, however, after studying the record of the defendant in the probation report, noted that he I had been associated with 1 drags for a number of years. I For this reason, Judge Sheya 1 ordered a 90-day evaluation at 1 the Utah State Prison before judgment is pronounced. After the evaluation the I court will receive a report on the defendant and will be in a ) better position to determine i the appropriate sentence, the Judge noted. In State vs. John Pat Unger, I the defendant appeared with I his attorney for arraignment on a reduced charge of being at a place where controlled j substances are sold, a mis-demeanor. mis-demeanor. He entered a plea of guilty to this reduced charge, and the court imposed fine of $200 and jail sentence f 90 days, with the jail sentence suspended upon payment pay-ment of the fine. The court set May 26 at 10 a m. for the trial of Paul J. Angelos on a charge of issuing a bad check, a Class A nisdemeanor. ' In other action, the court panted adoption of Donald B. v'er, an adult. The court also appointed guardians for Pa-Wcia Pa-Wcia Lee Woods and Michelle Shantay Carter, and issued decrees that due and legal ntice had been given to "editors in the estates of "'"is Hansen, Lonnie Joe "us, Martin E. Davis and Johnnie Glen Johnson. In the estate of Robert G. Kees the court granted author-"y author-"y to execute certain agree-Jjtefor agree-Jjtefor an order directing payments to an Internal Revenue Service claim and for an order confirming payment of certain lease agreements. The court also appointed Gloria Carter as administratrix in the estate of Clifford Carter. Divorces were granted to Marian A. Spencer from John Harry Spencer and to Diane Bullock from Greg Bullock. In the case of Jim L. Hudson et al vs. Thomas A. Stocks et al. a pre-trial hearing was set for May 10 at 10 a.m. The case of Louise Madsen vs. Stanley J. Madsen was set for the next law and motion day in this county. The court quieted title in favor of Mr. and Mrs. Lee A. Howland of certain mining claims in Grand County, and also in favor of Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Chandler for other mining claims in this county. |
