Ix;ase proposals will undergo further study in two regional coal environmental state- ments being prepared for southern and central Utah by U.S. Geological Survey. A short introductory session sess-ion is scheduled in BLM's conference room on the 14th floor for those who are un-familar un-familar with the federal coal leasing program. Such topics as the Energy Minerals Activity Activ-ity Recommendation System (EMARS) coal leasing process and its relationship to the regional coal environmental statements will be discussed. Following the introductory session, at approximately 11 a.m., three small "open house" type sessions covering specific specif-ic geographic areas will be conducted, which will continue contin-ue on an informal basis until 4:00 p.m. The objective of these smaller sessions will be to receive comments from the. public on land use impacts that may not have been identified thus far, to outline resource impacts of the proposed pro-posed coal lease areas as identified in the multiple use analysis portion of the planning plann-ing process, and to solicit recommendations as well as offer proposed recommendations recommenda-tions on which coal areas should or should not be leased. |
