The accident occurred 17 miles north of Moab on US 163. Tracy Tibbetts, 18, was driving south in a 1976 Chevrolet pickup, accompanied by Edmond L. Turner, also 18. As the vehicle came into a gradual left turn at a high speed, the wheels dropped into the right shoulder. The driver M i ) j ;' 'a L j Tracy D. Tibbetts overcorrected, came back into the northbound north-bound lane of traffic, swerved to the southbound lane and went off the right side of the roadway. Investigating Trooper John Kimball said the vehicle rolled three times, and that both occupants were taken to Allen Memorial Hospital, where they died. The pickup, valued at $7,500, was totaled.
