Show L to W, Camping' time is quick coming to an end with school starting in just a month. 14 girls from Moab took advantage advan-tage of Utah's established camps this summer with y Trefoil Ranch being the most j popular. 5 Trefoil is located in Provo Canyon and the main empha- sis on this camp is horses. JO Troop 617 sent 9 girls to ffi Trefoil, Tammy and Kathleen ft Daniels, Cammy Holyoak, K Glenda Byers, Kim Norman, f Kim Bronson, Robin Springer, f Lynn Ruder and Pam Mc-& Mc-& Candless. From Troop 285, Tina Southards, Kim Turner p and Sena Taylor attended. U Also attending was Jean f. Hornby, Sena's cousin from La f Canada, Calif. There are (V occasionally openings for non-j non-j council, non-scout girls, and S this was one of those instanc-( instanc-( es. fj Sena won first place in (T western pleasure riding and ff, led the mounted flag ceremony '"for closing ceremonies on the list dav cf camp. Sena has worked for the past two years under Ethel Krist in the 411 Riding Club here in Moab. Betty Winfield from Troop 666 attended Red Cliff e which is located 24 miles above Ogden and the main emphasis is on swimming. Cadetle TrooD 110 will be seridinp Carol Crossland and Cindy Marshall to Camp Cloud Rim above ParkCity next week for the last session of camp. These girls will be attending the Basic Primitive unit where girls live away from the main camps and learn advanced camping skills. For girls seeking special interest units or opportunities, this basic primitive unit is a requirement. require-ment. Four girls from Moab received partial caniperships this summer. Caniperships are made available to registered Girl Scoutrs who arc active participants of their troop and might not have the opportunity to go to camp without some financial help. Selections are based on committee review of each applicant and thb availability availa-bility of funds. No Scout is given a campership two years in a row and the girls must agree to remain in Scouting at least one year after their campership is granted. These girls all bring many useful hints and new ideas home from camp w hich they are encouraged to teach to the troop. And don't forget your Cookie money has helped to make all this possible! |
