Show Cancer Crusade in Utah Is Nearinq the Goal With six weeks remaining in the current Neighbor Saver Crusade, the Utah Division of the American Cancer Society is ncaring its 1975 Challenge Goal of i.H4,0()(). Robert H. Garff, stale Crusade chairman, said as of July 2-1 the drive had produced contributions totaling $331,-292.87, $331,-292.87, or 91 per cent of the goal. August 31 marks the end of the Cancer Society's fiscal year and the current Neighbor Saver Crusade. Of the Utah Division's 40 county units, 15 had met or exceeded their 1975 challenge goal as of July 24, Garff said. The funds have been raised through a comprehensive door to door residential drive in April during which an educational educa-tional brochure was left at every home visited, as well as through business drives, and special events such as telephone tele-phone derbies, bike-a-tlions, benefit gull tournaments and bowling tournaments. About $150,000 has come from residential soliciting. Also adding to Cancer Society contributions each year are memorials, contributions contribu-tions made in the memory of a deceased person, and legacies in which the American Cancer Siciety is designated as the beneficiary in a person's will. Memorial receipts for 1975 have reached $16,500. More than 18,000 volunteers have participated in the 1975 Crusade, Id, 891 of whom have been residential workers. "In a year when the economy has been uncertain at best, it is heartening to find Utahns responding to our requests as generously as they have in the pasJ," Garff said. "It is our hope that we can meet our Challenge Goal by the end of Aggust and thus assure uninterrupted progress in our programs. |
